QinetiQ Training & Simulation Ltd (QTSL) specialises in the development of a wide variety of interesting, bespoke software solutions across a wide range of technology including Artificial Intelligence, AR and VR technologies and mathematical modelling, to support current MOD requirements as well as undertaking research for the next generation of simulation systems to support UK force development. Activities include software development, support to training, technology research and experimentation into how the Military can best use simulation/synthetic environments.
The Role:
The role is to lead the delivery of Maritime Battlestaff (MBS) training and assurance exercises at the Portsmouth Naval Base and other customer sites utilising the latest synthetic environments and technologies to create a fully immersive and engaging exercise environment. It also provides interface to MBS participation in Tier 3 exercises run by other organisations with the potential to stretch to join Tier 4 exercises.
We are looking for a Service Delivery Manager to be instrumental in the delivery of this programme. Deployed to the naval base, you will be the interface between the customer and delivery teams. You will provide regular progress reports to QTSL management and ensure project milestones are delivered in a timely manner.
Reporting to the Programme Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of tasks and resources and for the timely and safe completion of all project activities, within cost and to the relevant quality standards for the duration of the contract.
Tasks include:
* Manage on-site personnel for planning and coordination activities and coordinate the activities of the core team
* Attend and support project meetings and working groups dealing with resource requests, planning and scheduling of staff to support exercise delivery
* Manage reach-back support during exercise planning and design
* Take ownership of the training handbook and Target Operating Model
* Prepare and maintain the calendar of exercises with relevant parties
* Manage capability milestones and continuous improvement of the overall service delivery
* Provides regular monthly reporting and monitoring of KPI’s to the Programme Manager
* Implementing sub-contract tasks in consultation with the Supply Chain Lead
* Ensuring compliance with Security Aspects Letters
* Ensuring that project links are identified, recorded, assessed and have appropriate risk owners assigned
* Ensuring that all project risks mitigation plans are proactively managed
* Managing invoices to ensure they are raised and paid in a timely fashion
The Candidate:
The ideal candidate will be a Naval veteran, RM officer or Reservist with a strong understanding and proven experience of training delivery and operations, with experience of dealing with senior ranks and commercial awareness.
This role will suit those who enjoy 'making things happen' and is very 'delivery' focused. You will be working closely with the exercise delivery and technical teams to deliver a seamless experience to the training audience. Whilst the role is based in Portsmouth with regular visits to QTSL HQ in Farnborough, and other sites in the UK, there will be occasional need for overseas travel.
Experience and skills:
* Commercial awareness, understanding and appreciation of contractual obligations; KPI, risk management etc.
* Strong understanding in the context of collective training design and delivery
* Excellent organisation skills with the ability to multi-task
* The ability to communicate efficiently and diplomatically in a clear and concise manner
* Effective reporting up the chain of command
* Expert user of the MS Office Suite
