Operations Manager - Bridgman
Location: Enfield (Office based role)
Reports to: COO
Department: Operations
Hours: 40 hours per week across Monday–Friday (8am–4.30pm). Overtime may be required during peak periods.
About Us:
Bridgman is a luxury furniture retailer with over 49 years of heritage in British design. Renowned for our high-quality products, we aim to create year-round experiences for our customers, both indoors and outdoors. Our showrooms represent the heart of our customer interactions, offering a premium and tailored shopping experience.
Role Overview:
As Operations Manager, you will take full ownership and accountability for all logistics operations across the business. This is a hands-on role, requiring you to actively manage, coordinate and oversee inbound and outbound deliveries, warehouse processes and stock allocation to ensure a seamless operational journey from supplier to customer.
This role is process-driven rather than people-management focused. You will oversee delivery partners, monitor performance against SLAs and ensure operational standards are consistently upheld. You will be confident holding external providers accountable while maintaining strong working relationships.
With strong organisational ability and meticulous attention to detail, you will ensure that logistics and warehouse operations fully support Bridgman’s premium brand positioning. You will work closely with the onsite warehouse team, customer experience, sales, marketing and finance departments to deliver operational excellence at every touchpoint.
As the business grows, there is scope for this role to expand into broader stock ownership, international shipping oversight and supplier relationship management.
Your Responsibilities:
Logistics & Delivery Management
* Delivery Oversight: Manage all inbound and outbound deliveries, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and adherence to SLAs.
* Scheduling & Coordination: Oversee the delivery schedule, including allocating picking dates, booking domestic and international deliveries, managing manifests, coordinating stock transfers, maintaining ERP records and arranging customer returns.
* Partner Management: Liaise proactively with logistics partners and 3PL providers regarding performance, service levels, pricing and scheduling. Hold partners accountable and resolve issues efficiently.
* Export Documentation: Prepare export paperwork and ensure all compliance requirements are met.
* Invoice Reconciliation: Reconcile 3PL invoices and resolve discrepancies promptly.
* Returns & Claims: Manage returns processes and complete claims for damaged items.
Warehouse Process & Stock Control
* Process Ownership: Oversee warehouse processes relating to inbound and outbound stock movements, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
* ERP Accuracy: Input supplier deliveries into ERP promptly and maintain accurate stock data across SKUs, bundles and BOMs.
* Stock Allocation: Ensure correct allocation of stock against customer orders and manage backorders proactively.
* Collaboration: Work closely with the onsite warehouse team to ensure operational SLAs are met and customer expectations are supported.
(Please note: This role does not involve direct line management of warehouse staff but oversees processes and stock allocation.)
Customer Experience & Cross-Functional Collaboration
* Customer-First Approach: Ensure customer service remains central to all operational decision-making.
* CX Coordination: Oversee and support the Customer Experience function to ensure clear, timely communication around deliveries, returns and any service issues.
* Internal & External Communication: Communicate confidently and professionally with internal teams, external logistics partners, suppliers and customers to ensure alignment and clarity across all operational activity.
* Team Collaboration: Work effectively across Operations, CX, Sales and Marketing to maintain a cohesive and premium customer journey.
* Reporting & Analysis: Generate weekly & monthly operational reports and provide ad-hoc analysis for Directors to support business decisions and continuous improvement initiatives.
Why Bridgman?
Heritage & Craftsmanship: Join a company rooted in tradition, offering products designed to last a lifetime.
Family-Owned Values: Be part of a trusted, close-knit team that values accountability, collaboration and excellence.
Premium Standards: Play a pivotal role in delivering operational excellence that supports a luxury customer experience.
Commitment to Growth: As the business scales, this role offers development into stock strategy, international shipping oversight and supplier relationship management.
