Job Title: Lead Technologist
Location: Towcester – On-site
Salary: £54,700+ depending on skills and experience
What you’ll be doing:
* Guidance and documentation to support the development and embedding of new technologies and processes
* Gather customer requirements and make recommendation for potential solutions
* Generation of technical proposals and internal investment cases in support of business winning and funding opportunities
* Reviewing and approval of technical reports, presentations and other deliverables
* Identification and submission of IP opportunities (Patents)
* Liaison with both internal and external stakeholders / customers
Your skills and experiences:
* Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant Engineering / Scientific discipline, with significant amount of relevant industrial experience in a defence / security environment
* A reasonable domain knowledge covering some of the following:
- Understanding of the Electromagnetic spectrum (RF/IR/EO)
- RF antennas and sensing devices
- Composite structures
- Elastomeric Materials
- Operation & purpose of scientific equipment
- Design of experiments to verify problem solving
- Microwave / IR measurement techniques
- Use of 1D / 3D RF modelling software
- An established peer network within BAE Systems and ideally externally through academia or recognised technical bodies

The Advanced Technology team:
The Microwave Materials business forms part of the BAE SYSTEMS Advanced Technology Solutions organisation and is focused on the research, development, design, and volume manufacture of materials and components used to enhance platform survivability. The material solutions are based on elastomeric, composite and coating technologies that are functionalised to provide properties in the electromagnetic spectrum and engineered to survive environmental conditions. You will provide technical leadership across a range of initiatives, driving the development of new materials and technologies to expand the existing product portfolio and enhance technical capabilities.
