The Vision: Science Without Ceilings
Are you an experienced Science educator who believes that every student:regardless of their sensory or communication needs:deserves to explore the wonders of the natural world?
In September 2025, we launched a brand:new, purpose:built secondary school in Chaldon for young people (ages 11:16) with Autism, social communication, and emotional regulation needs. We are looking for a Science Teacher to teach in our lab and help students investigate, experiment, and achieve in a supportive, high:resource environment.
The Role: Innovation and Discovery
As a founding member of our academic team, you will have the unique opportunity to design a Science curriculum that is both academically rigorous and sensory:conscious.
*
Bespoke Pedagogy: Deliver a curriculum aligned with the National Curriculum, but adapted for students who may have multiple learning difficulties or present with challenging behaviours.
*
Clinical Collaboration: Work alongside our supernumerary multi:disciplinary team to integrate sensory processing and emotional regulation into your practical and theoretical lessons.
*
Small Squads, High Support: Benefit from small class sizes and high levels of classroom support, allowing you to focus on individual progress and EHCP targets.
*
A Start:Up Spirit: Be part of the journey from day one, helping to establish the culture, safety protocols, and excitement of a brand:new Science department.
What We Are Looking For
We need a resilient, reflective practitioner who can balance the awe and wonder of Science with a calm, non:confrontational approach.
*
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS): Required to be eligible for the GBP5,000 welcome bonus.
*
SEND Expertise: Experience working with neurodivergent learners or a deep interest in Autism:led education.
*
Safety and Structure: The ability to provide clear lesson structures that maintain pace and motivation while managing a specialised learning environment.
*
Flexibility: A willingness to lend a hand and diversify as we grow this new school community.
Why Apply?
This is a rare chance to move away from the one:size:fits:all mainstream model. You will have the autonomy to make Science accessible, the clinical support to manage complex needs, and the financial reward of a competitive salary and welcome bonus.
