Purchasing Manager – Imerys British Lithium
Location: Par Moor Centre, Cornwall
Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Contract: Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday‑Friday (day shift)
Job Summary
This role is being advertised in anticipation of a future vacancy for a Purchasing Manager at our site in Par, Cornwall. The Purchasing Manager will manage all purchasing activities (capital and operational) for the Imerys British Lithium Development Project, working closely with the Project Director and Stream Leaders. Responsibilities include the full procurement cycle, executing RFQs, completing commercial bid tabulations, negotiating and finalising contracts, and coordinating with Category Managers for specialised support.
Responsibilities
* Implement purchasing plans in collaboration with Project Managers and Stream Leaders, using routines to ensure information circulation and future action anticipation.
* Manage the full supplier sourcing process—including launching tenders, participating in supplier qualification, and using the Sourcing Request tool.
* Negotiate contracts and collaborate with the Legal team on contract preparation and claim management.
* Ensure adherence to Imerys’ purchasing process and rules, monitor and report savings, and provide data for monthly progress reports.
* Coordinate with other purchasing categories, support the P2P process with Accounting, assist technical teams with claims, and aid in the deployment of Group IT solutions (e.g., IVALUA).
* Support Imerys' Sustainability programme (e.g., Ecovadis and CO₂ impact).
Qualifications
* Master in Business School or General Engineering with a specialization in purchasing.
* Experience in purchases of industrial equipment, engineering contracts, work contracts, and indirect services.
* Experience in procurement and interfaces between procurement and purchasing.
* Experience in contract negotiation (equipment, engineering services).
* Good communication and ability to work with other cultures.
* Fluency in written and spoken English is essential.
* Ability to challenge technical teams to get ideas accepted.
