Overview

Join to apply for the CAMHS Early Help Liaison Practitioner role at Louder Than Words. 37.5 hours per week. This is an exciting opportunity for band 6 professional registered clinicians to join an expanding team working within CAMHS Early Help Pathway, working with Children, Young people & families to work as a CAMHS Liaison Practitioner.

This role will join an established CAMHS service team. CAMHS Early Help pathway provides consultation, assessments & targeted, short term interventions up to 8 sessions within the I-THRIVE model, with a focus on early intervention within children’s mental health. You will work as the named Early Help Liaison practitioner for schools within the locality, offering consultation, advice & signposting to services. The post holder supports the emotional, psychological & social wellbeing of children & young people with a drive for early intervention and promotes resilience, prevention & early intervention. You will contribute to the CAMHS advice & support line. The role is based on a hybrid model with access to office/clinical space and some home working. 3 years post-qualification experience in child/young people mental health or equivalent with professional registration is required. Note: eligibility for Skilled Worker sponsorship may be restricted; refer to the Direct Gov website for details.

All Livewell Southwest staff are expected to work across a 7 day service.

Main duties of the job

* Work as the Liaison practitioner within the early help pathway to deliver consultation, advice & signposting to community services & schools working with children & young people with mental health difficulties.
* Implement evidence-based, targeted interventions and ensure access to timely assessments & interventions. Represent CAMHS in multi-agency meetings with oversight of the mental health element.
* Participate in delivery of training for schools & community services. Maintain high standards of care. Engage in line management with junior staff. Liaise with other CAMHS pathways and develop/provider relationships.
* Maintain confidentiality and communicate clearly with children, young people, families and health professionals.
* Participate in clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives; promote person-centred care and involve children and young people in decision making about their help.
* Work across various community environments and adapt to different settings.


Person Specification

Experience – Essential: post-registration experience with children & young people with mental health difficulties; knowledge of mental health assessments including risk; experience with families from diverse backgrounds; multi-agency work; autonomous caseload management. Desirable: experience in children’s mental health; student support; line management of junior staff.

Knowledge & skills – Essential: excellent interpersonal/communication skills; strong organisational and time management; experience in mental health assessments and risk management; ability to work under pressure; knowledge of legislation relating to children’s mental health; knowledge of the I-THRIVE model. Desirable: IT skills with various programmes.

Circumstances – Essential: ability to travel across Plymouth; flexible hours and duties.

Qualifications – Essential: core qualification in nursing, social work, occupational therapy or psychology; relevant post-registration experience or experience as a band 6 with children in mental health; professional registration (e.g., NMC). Desirable: relevant training courses; post-graduate training in children’s mental health (systemic practice, CBT, DBT); evidence of clinical supervision/assessor training.
