Y Not Marketing Manager

Full time, permanent position.

Based in either London or Derbyshire.

4 days per week in the office, 1 day remote (plus site visits and onsite festival work).



About the Company:

Y Not is situated in the rolling hills of the Peak District, playing host to global artists and trailblazing emerging talent year on year with names such as Kasabian, Courteeners, Stereophonics, Noel Gallagher, Two Door Cinema Club, Snoop Dogg and so much more. With 8 stages of Music, Comedy, Cabaret, Art, Workshops, Y NOT is a staple of the UK festival scene.



What was once a house party has now grown into a full-scale music festival. Y Not may be bigger, but its heart still holds true to its mantra; small, fresh and loud.


About the Role:

As Marketing Manager for Y Not, this role can either be based in our London or Derbyshire office depending which is most convenient to your location. However, as you will be ultimately responsible for content and branding onsite at the festival, you will need to travel to and remain on site for the build and break of the event, as well as attend any required site visits. You will also be required to be on site for our other 2 festivals, Truck and Tramlines.


Key Responsibilities:

Reporting into the Group Head of Marketing with a strong dotted line into the Festival Manager, you will be responsible for devising and implementing marketing campaigns across the full marketing mix of below and above-the-line channels (where relevant) for Y NOT Festival. All campaigns will be delivered on time, and to budget with a clear understanding of KPIs. You will also be responsible for keeping key stakeholders updated on progress and timelines.


* Day-to-day marketing campaign lead for Y NOT Festival. You’ll manage the campaign timeline and execute day-to-day campaign activity.
* Presenting marketing plans and key assets to the Group Head of Marketing for approval in a timely manner.
* Proactively monitoring your campaign against key KPIs and working closely with the Group Head of Marketing and wider marketing team to share knowledge and optimisations.
* Management of all artist announcements and marketing activities across Y NOT Festival with support from the Festival Assistant. The Head of Marketing will act as point of contact for bookers and ensure that all announcement/line-up assets are approved, with no artist names misspelt or billed incorrectly.
* Day-to-day management of PR, digital and social agencies as applicable.
* Day-to-day management and execution of festival social channels and digital assets (app, website etc.) You’ll ensure any agencies are fully briefed, working to KPIs and are within budget.
* Day-to-day management and executing of the eCRM plan.
* Day-to-day management of the marketing budget within approved parameters.
* Ensuring all marketing assets are briefed in a timely manner and approval processes are followed.
* Recruit third party partners and devise subsequent promotions/competitions to increase ticket sales and event awareness.
* Ensuring all decision making is rooted in data & insight. Prepare and update key documents efficiently and accurately including budget trackers, comms calendars and material for senior stakeholders
* For the events you are responsible for, manage all onsite photography and filming


Your Knowledge and Experience


Technical Skills

* Proven and demonstrable experience of planning, managing, implementing marketing activity for a music or music events brand. Including creating, delivering, monitoring campaigns across all marketing channels.
* Proven experience of recording and reporting on marketing campaigns, adjusting the execution where needed.
* Experience and confidence in working with and managing various external suppliers, including Press / Agencies.
* Proven experience of managing and developing junior marketing team members.
* Proven experience of content creation and ability to create content in-app and through other applicable platforms e.g. CapCut
* Successfully managing and understanding a marketing budget.
* Proficient across all aspects of Adobe Suite


Soft Skills

* Previous live music marketing experience and who has a passion for music and is an avid festival and gig goer.
* Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
* The ability to communicate effectively and professionally in writing, by telephone or face to face, and at all levels including senior management, colleagues, clients and members of the public.
* Patience and ability to negotiate professionally with suppliers.
* Ability to manage and motivate a young, passionate team.
* The motivation and dedication to be hands on and proactive onsite, priding yourself on going the extra mile to create the best event possible.
* A team player but also be able to manage your workload independently.
* The ability to prioritise a varied workload to ensure deadlines are met; you’ll be self-motivated, with strong communication skills and very close attention to detail.
* Have stronger than average skills in Microsoft Excel and Word and an understanding of the digital landscape and the major players within it.


You must hold a full UK driving licence and must be able to show proof of valid, current UK Working Rights.


This role requires full flexibility to work weekends, early mornings and late nights as required, with possibly increased hours leading up to the event, and you will be responsible to manage your time accordingly.
