Technical Artist (Unity / VFX / VR) – Remote UK – Contract
We're looking for an experienced Technical Artist with strong Unity and VFX expertise to join a growing team working on a leading VR gaming project. This is an opportunity to help deliver high-quality visuals while ensuring excellent performance across VR platforms.
Location: Remote (UK)
Contract: Until December 2026
Rate: £35.58/hr PAYE
Responsibilities
* Create and implement high-quality visual effects for gameplay and UI
* Improve and define environment, VFX workflows, tooling, and shaders
* Develop original textures, meshes, sprite sheets, and technical art assets
* Contribute to hand-written HLSL shaders and rendering solutions
* Optimise visuals for mobile and VR platforms
* Resolve technical, visual, and performance-related issues
* Collaborate closely with artists, designers, and engineers
Required Skills & Experience
* 5+ years' experience working with Unity
* 2+ years' experience as a Technical Artist
* Strong VFX creation experience
* Extensive knowledge of Unity tools including:
* Particle Systems
* VFX Graph
* Animations
* Timelines
* Nested Prefabs
* Material Property Blocks
* Experience creating technical 2D and 3D assets using procedural DCC tools
* Deep understanding of rendering pipelines and graphics optimisation
* Experience with hand-written shaders (HLSL)
* Strong mobile and VR optimisation experience
Highly Desirable
* Experience creating original textures, meshes, sprite sheets, and shaders
* Experience working on VR titles
* Strong portfolio demonstrating VFX and technical art work
