An established, high‑growth fintech with an international footprint is strengthening its tax capability and has engaged us to appoint an Indirect Tax Manager. The business operates across multiple jurisdictions and is continuing to scale through new markets and product launches, creating increasing complexity from an indirect tax perspective.
This is the first dedicated indirect tax hire into the organisation. The role has been created to bring deeper ownership, shape the approach to VAT and indirect taxes, and ensure the business is well positioned as it continues to grow. It is a genuine opportunity to build and influence, rather than step into a mature or fixed structure.
The role will suit someone who enjoys operating close to the commercial activity of the business, is comfortable working with ambiguity, and wants visibility and influence across product, market entry and strategic decision‑making.
Responsibilities
* Take end‑to‑end ownership of indirect tax across all active jurisdictions, ensuring compliance, managing risk and minimising VAT leakage, including in exempt and partially exempt environments
* Maintain oversight of registrations, filings, reconciliations and advisor‑managed compliance, ensuring obligations are met accurately and on time
* Monitor global indirect tax developments and assess the impact on the business, identifying emerging risks and opportunities early
* Act as a key tax representative on new product and country launches, embedding indirect tax input from the outset rather than retrospectively
* Assess indirect tax implications of new business models and market entry plans, proposing commercially sound, practical solutions
* Coordinate effectively with local advisors in new jurisdictions to reach efficient and robust outcomes
* Partner with stakeholders across finance, product, legal and operations, providing clear, decision‑focused advice rather than purely technical commentary
* Work closely with senior finance leadership to help shape priorities, identify areas for improvement, and support the ongoing development of the tax function as the business scales
Requirements
* Proven indirect tax specialist with strong VAT technical knowledge and hands‑on experience across multiple jurisdictions
* Background in financial services or fintech, with experience of exempt or partially exempt supplies
* Track record of supporting new market or product launches, including making pragmatic decisions where information is imperfect
* Experience in fast‑paced, high‑growth environments with evolving structures and priorities
* Commercially minded approach, with a focus on enabling the business rather than creating barriers
* Clear communicator who can translate complex tax issues into practical options for non‑tax stakeholders
* Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams concurrently
* Comfortable taking ownership and accountability for outcomes, not just providing advice
* Professionally qualified (ACA, CTA, ACCA or equivalent), typically operating at Manager or Senior Manager level
