We’re seeking a dedicated teacher to join an Alternative Provision / PRU in Thurrock for a long-term, full-time position starting immediately. You’ll be working with students who have struggled in mainstream education—many of whom face social, emotional, or behavioural challenges—and you’ll play a vital role in helping them re-engage with learning. Key Responsibilities: Deliver engaging English lessons across KS3 and KS4 tailored to student needs. Support students with SEMH needs and help them develop confidence in literacy. Plan creative, accessible lessons that focus on both academic and personal growth. Use trauma-informed and restorative approaches to behaviour management. Contribute to EHCP reviews, academic reports, and personalised learning plans. Work collaboratively with support staff and external professionals. Encourage a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment. Qualifications and Experience: QTS or relevant teaching qualification (essential). Experience teaching English in SEMH, PRU, or alternative provision settings (preferred). Strong behaviour management and classroom presence. Ability to build trust and meaningful relationships with disengaged learners. A calm, patient, and adaptive teaching style. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. A commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice.
