The role
You will provide pastoral support to pupils with SEND and mental health needs, supporting them to engage in education, make good progress and feel safe, respected and valued, whilst working closely with families and professionals.
The individual will play an active role in ensuring the school vision, aims and core values are understood by all staff and upheld.
This is an opportunity to make a genuine positive difference to the lives of individual students and their families, whilst working alongside and being part of a dedicated and friendly team.
Working closely alongside the Assistant Headteacher for Pastoral and Wellbeing, you will have responsibility for the day-to-day pastoral care for all pupils attending the setting and delivery of a very small number of weekly PSHE lessons.
The role will require you to become an integral part of a highly experienced and knowledgeable staff team dedicated to providing the best possible outcomes for all pupils. You will have the opportunity to make positive differences in the education and experience of pupils attending the New Skill Centre, utilising your skills to develop their understanding, raise self-esteem and increase confidence in their own abilities
You will need:
* GCSE or equivalent level, including at least a Grade 4 (previously Grade C) in English and Maths
* First-aid training, or willingness to complete it
About Us
The New Skill Centre is an Independent Special Educational Needs (SEN) School for pupils who are aged 11-16 and 16-19 who have difficulty in accessing mainstream settings and other large educational institutions. All pupils have an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) and are gentle by nature.

As a school, we prioritise a strong focus on pastoral support and as such have a dedicated Pastoral and Transition team who directly supports pupil transition to the setting and provides individual support for every pupil, throughout the time they are with us.
