Director of Marketing

Location – 2-3 days a week office based in one of the following locations: London, Birmingham or Manchester

Base salary – up to £110,000 plus bonus and shares

Our private equity backed client is seeking a strategic and commercially minded Director of Marketing to lead their UK Marketing function in this rapidly expanding business. This is a critical leadership role. You will be responsible for shaping and executing the marketing strategy, developing the brand message, ensuring consistency and driving growth; with a strong emphasis on digital and performance marketing strategies and delivery that optimise ROI and customer acquisition.

This role is part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and would be ideally suited to senior B2B marketing professionals with full mix experience and a strength in digital and performance marketing. Experience within Professional services, business services, healthcare and education and previous success in developing and delivering a marketing strategy to drive significant growth in a PE backed firm would be advantageous.

The successful candidate will spend 2-3 days a week office based, in a choice of either London, Birmingham or Manchester.

Marketing is viewed as the engine for driving significant growth over the next 3 years. Our client has a reputation for being dynamic, collaborative with a supportive environment.

Strategy & Brand Marketing:

* Develop and implement the Group marketing strategy in alignment with the group's business objectives and growth plans, supporting revenue generation.
* Monitor and manage the marketing budget, ensuring financial targets are met and resources are allocated effectively.
* Lead group marketing activity, including email campaigns, sponsorship and partnership opportunities.
* Develop a compelling, unified brand story and narrative that reflects the company’s mission, values, and market ambition, working across the business to ensure relevance and authenticity. Overseebrand positioning and ensure consistent messaging across all marketing channels
* Create and implement brand guidelines and toolkits to ensure visual and verbal consistency across all touchpoints and teams.
* Lead internal engagement initiatives to ensure brand and messaging alignment is embedded across business units. Integrate ESG messaging across marketing activity
* Plan, execute, and analyse marketing campaigns to drive growth and enhance brand visibility through increased lead generation and website traffic.
* Establish marketing infrastructure – build processes, systems, and governance to support scalable, consistent marketing across all areas of the business.
* Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive landscape, providing insights and recommendations to board and management regarding marketing strategy and commercial development.

Digital & Performance Marketing:

* Develop and implement performance marketing strategies to drive lead generation, conversion, and customer lifetime value
* Lead and scale digital and performance marketing efforts, including paid media (PPC, display, paid social), SEO, marketing automation, CRM (Salesforce), and content marketing. Ensure campaigns are data-driven, conversion-focused, and aligned with customer acquisition and retention goals.
* Oversee the use of marketing technology platforms (e.g. CRM, marketing automation, analytics tools) to optimise campaign performance and reporting.
* Utilise data (Power BI), analytics, and attribution modelling to drive decision making, optimise marketing spend, and measure the ROI of digital and performance marketing initiatives.

Team Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement:

* Build and lead a high-performing marketing team, fostering a culture of creativity and innovation
* Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally
* Identify opportunities for thought leadership showcasing the brand’s USPs.
* Partner with regional marketing/ business development leads, to define and implement a more aligned approach to client outreach, campaign planning, and market positioning.
* Serve as a trusted advisor to the SLT on all aspects of brand, market communication, and external positioning.

Skills and Experience:

* Educated to degree level (or equivalent). Relevant professional qualifications or certifications in marketing and communications are desirable; CIM accreditation preferred.
* Proven experience in a senior marketing role, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Experience in a high-growth, PE-backed company is desirable. Experience within Professional services, business services, healthcare and education and previous success in developing and delivering a marketing strategy to drive significant growth would be advantageous.
* Proven success in brand management and digital marketing. An eye for detail and a flair for creating strong creative content.
* Established track record in leading digital and performance marketing strategies, including paid media, SEO, and marketing automation with a deep understanding of digital marketing metrics, attribution models, and performance optimisation.
* Ability to scale digital campaigns and optimise customer acquisition funnels.
* Experience with tools such as Google Analytics, HubSpot, Salesforce, or similar platforms.
* Change leadership – track record of influencing and delivering transformation across complex or matrixed organisation, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams and ability to lead and inspire teams
* Strong strategic thinking and leadership skills with a proactive and hands-on approach.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels. A credible influencer with the confidence to challenge where needed.
* Strong experience in stakeholder management, both internal and external; being a team player is critical.
* Data-driven with experience of analysing metrics to guide strategic decision-making and evaluate the impact of marketing interventions.
* Empathetic and approachable, with strong problem-solving skills.
* Highly adaptable and resilient, able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
* Experience of leveraging technology to transform and optimise processes and workflows.
* Financial acumen and experience in budget management.
