Role Overview
We are recruiting a full‑time Band 8a Clinical Psychologist for the busy and friendly S‑CAMHS service at Hywel Dda University Health Board (Hywel Dda UHB). The role focuses on the emerging ARFID service for young people and supports the Schools In Reach and Primary Mental Health Worker Service. Based in Carmarthen, the position requires a 50‑% time commitment to each service (potentially reduced to part‑time). The successful candidate will deliver psychological assessment, formulation, intervention and consultation to a multidisciplinary team and provide supervision and training to junior staff.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide psychological assessment, formulation, intervention and consultation for the ARFID team and Schools In Reach service.
* Deliver direct clinical work with young people and families.
* Provide supervision to Assistant Psychologists and Trainee Clinical Psychologists.
* Offer training and consultation to colleagues across the service.
* Engage in research and project work, contributing to service development.
* Collaborate across the S‑CAMHS network and share specialist knowledge.
Qualifications and Skills
* Registered psychologist with a Band 8a competency profile (or ineligible qualified psychologists applying under Annex 21).
* Strong experience in assessment and intervention for child and adolescent mental health.
* Capacity to supervise junior staff and deliver training.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
* Welsh language skills desirable; applicants who meet the Welsh Language proficiency requirement are encouraged to apply.

Applicants can expect a structured development plan if they are not yet at Band 8a level, with progression to full Band 8a remuneration over a two‑year period under the Agenda for Change arrangement.
