An apprentice Information Communications Technician (ICT) supports an established team of Infrastructure Engineers to support and maintain infrastructure solutions and services. You will receive coaching, mentoring, and direction from more senior team members. This role is a trainee position where you can broaden your technical understanding and skills and expect to start developing a specialization.
You will be a hard-working and enthusiastic individual with a flexible and collaborative approach to work. You will be someone who can work well as part of a busy team but is equally comfortable working independently or with limited supervision. In these roles, you will be making a positive contribution to the overall success of your business area.
Responsibilities
The Home Office is an exciting and rewarding department to work for. If you are successful in securing a place on the ICT Apprenticeship, you will:
* Work as part of a team to build, configure, administer, and support infrastructure technologies and solutions such as compute, storage, networking, physical infrastructure, software, cloud, COTS, and open-source packages and solutions.
* Resolve technical problems, ensuring that solutions meet business requirements.
* Respond to incident reports, prioritizing and providing detailed information for effective investigation.
* Monitor resolution activities and update users on progress.
* Assist in investigating faults and implementing solutions and preventative measures.
* Work collaboratively to ensure IT products, suppliers, and vendors deliver a quality service.
* Update and maintain technical documentation.
You should have a passion for Infrastructure Engineering, with skills or some experience in:
* Core technical concepts related to your role.
* The entire service delivery lifecycle: design, development, delivery, and operations.
* Updating incident and problem statuses on service management tools.
* Planning sprints and resolving blockers by dissecting problems to identify root causes.
* Communicating clearly and accurately in language suited to stakeholders.
* Building strong partnerships across diverse teams and locations.
Ideally, you will also have:
* Understanding of key principles and standards applicable to your work.
* Good IT skills, proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
* GCSE Maths and English grade C or above (Level 4 in the new grading system).
