There is an exciting opportunity to recruit a Lead Advanced Clinical Practitioner for the Acute Directorate. This is a new post, which is toprovide outstanding leadership and managerial support for the 10 Acute Advanced Clinical Practitioner team.
The post holder will support the Head of Nursing and Clinical Director in delivering the Acute strategic framework supporting evidence based care that is well led, safe, effective and caring whilst having direct oversight and accountability of the ACP team.
We are looking for someone who has energy, drive and resilience with a clear desire to lead a team and develop the service further. It is a busyand challenging role with multiple competing demands, which requires someone who can manage their own workload, whilst having a clear visionof the development of the department and workforce. Excellent team working skills, along with good negation skills is required, with an ability tosupport, encourage and motivate others.
You will be supported by the Head of Nursing with monthly 1-1s to enable progression of team and service development.
Main duties of the job
Role:
* Provide leadership and managerial support for the Acute department Advanced clinical practitioner team.
* Support the Head of Nursing and Clinical director with the objectives of continuous service development and strategic framework.
* Attend and actively take part in divisional and organisational forums, supporting new and existing initiatives.
* Provide highly specialised emergency care and leadership within the hospital setting, using advanced clinical knowledge that is evidence based, acting as a role model to colleagues.
* Function independently or within a clinical team and will demonstrate competence complementary to the MDT role in the delivery of health care.
* Provide expert advice and to ensure the needs of the patient are met by leading, challenging and changing practice within the clinical setting.
* To provide expert advice, support and direction to ensure holistic patient care for Emergency presentations in conjunction with the multi - disciplinary team over the 24-hour period.
* Work closely with the Emergency Care Nursing and Medical Teams to support outstanding, evidence-based care delivery.
* To provide the infrastructure that addresses the knowledge and skills deficits of the Advanced clinical practitioner team, including a clear strategic framework of how the pillars of advanced practice will be met and maintained.

* Provides clinical and leadership support for the junior medical teams, across the 24 hour period

Duties and Key Skills: Clinical:
* Management of patients to incorporate physiological, psychological and pharmacological considerations, making multifaceted complex clinical decisions regarding patient management and clinical outcomes, including discharging patients from the service when treatment is complete/optimum outcome is achieved
* Independently adjust treatment plans according to need assessing appropriate management options, and initiate treatment or referral to an appropriate professional where necessary
* Request haematological and radiological investigations appropriately, independently interpreting and acting upon the results of these investigations and adjusting the patients management plan accordingly
* Request therapeutic procedures/interventions and evaluate the outcome of these interventions
* Assess and manage patients with complex problems, making independent referrals to medical teams and other practitioners both within and outside the specific directorate.
* Provide education and counselling regarding the range of treatment options available to the patient
* Provide the patient with comprehensive information regarding clinical procedures, ensuring informed consent
* Obtain written consent for medical procedures
* Manage complete programmes of care in a manner which provides appropriate support for patients and their families
* Provide/facilitate interventions which are evidence based and individualised to the patient's needs
* Demonstrate the ability to make sound decisions regarding patient management in the absence of specific protocols
* Promote clinical awareness of the need for constant review and development of professional practice
