Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (Locum)

The Royal United Hospitals Bath (RUH) is seeking to appoint two dedicated and forward‑thinking locum Consultant Obstetricians and Gynaecologists to join our dynamic and highly motivated team of 16 Consultants. This is a locum 10‑hour arrangement with a 1 in 12 on‑call commitment, covering Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Main duties of the job
The role will involve both elective and emergency Obstetrics and Gynaecology care. The job plan can be tailored to the specialist interests of successful candidates. The consultant will provide out‑of‑hours and clinic gynaecological ultrasound services – a good level of gynaecological and early‑pregnancy scanning skill is desired.
Job responsibilities
Provide comprehensive care across the obstetric and gynaecology spectrum, participate in teaching and research activities, and collaborate with the University of Bath, University of Exeter and the Bath School of Postgraduate Medicine.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Entry on the Specialist Register (or entry expected within six months of interview date);
* Completion of advanced training modules;
* Higher degree (MD/PhD, FRCS);
* ATSM/SITUM in Complex Early Pregnancy, Non‑Elective Gynaecology, Therapeutic Hysteroscopy, Fetal Care, Chronic Pelvic Pain, Urogynaecology and Vaginal Surgery.
Clinical Experience
* Evidence of experience in specialist fields;
* Competent at emergency and elective obstetric/gynaecology surgery;
* Ability to perform obstetric ultrasound – growth scans, Doppler, cervical length; gynaecological scanning;
* Urogynaecology procedure skills;
* Early pregnancy care.
