Role Overview
As a Meat, Egg & Dairy Ingredients Buyer, you will be responsible for procurement of these ingredients for Yeo Valley Fruits and Yeo Valley Farms businesses. You will lead development and delivery of category sourcing plans, manage supplier relationships, and implement risk‑management and efficiency programs.
Working Hours & Location
40 hours per week, Monday‑Friday. Based at YVHQ offices in Blagdon, Somerset. Office presence 2‑3 days per week.
Responsibilities
* Develop and implement category plans for Meat, Egg & Dairy Ingredient categories addressing cost, service, quality and sustainability.
* Negotiate supply contracts and complete market reviews to identify potential new sources of supply.
* Collaborate with stakeholders, strategic suppliers and external bodies to embed regenerative and organic standards.
* Optimise supplier relationships and performance against key metrics, agreeing improvement plans where appropriate.
* Identify and implement workstreams to reduce total cost of raw material supply and support milk balancing and efficiency improvements.
* Sourcing and contracting new raw materials to support product innovation and entry into new food categories.
* Support budgeting and forecasting with raw material price forecasting and market insights.
* Implement raw material contracts and commercial agreements, mitigating supply chain risks.
* Compile and communicate accurate price variance, savings, market reports and forecasts.
Qualifications
* Prior procurement experience – supplier management, category management, contracting and tendering.
* Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
* Ability to work to tight or challenging deadlines.
* Self‑motivated, adaptable and able to juggle multiple priorities.
* Strong numeracy, analytical, literacy and presentation skills.
* Proven collaboration and communication, building relationships at all levels.
* Good understanding of supply chain risks and risk‑management techniques.
Desirable
* CIPS qualification.
* Experience in Food Ingredients sourcing.
* FMCG / Food manufacturing experience.
* Degree educated or equivalent work experience.
* Track record in delivering sustainable supply chain cost‑efficiency projects.
