Joe Perkins is a creative landscape design practice focused on sustainable,

beautiful landscapes that benefit both the environment and the people who use

surrounding landscape.

We embrace hybrid working, meeting in the studio one-two days a week to

collaborate and inspire, whilst benefiting from the flexibility of remote work to

reduce travel and lower our carbon footprint.

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a talented Senior Landscape Designer/Architect to join our team

and lead the design and delivery of high-end residential gardens, public realm

projects, and horticultural institutions across the UK and internationally.

As a Senior Landscape Designer, you will bring creativity and technical expertise

to develop innovative designs that balance aesthetics and functionality. You willcollaborate with clients, consultants, and multidisciplinary teams, shaping our

design approach and ensuring each project meets the highest standards.

The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative, design-led environment and is

passionate about creating unique, site-responsive landscapes. Strong

interpersonal skills are essential, as you will liaise with clients, understand their

needs, and build lasting relationships. You will oversee projects from concept to

completion, mentoring junior team members and ensuring timely,

budget-conscious, and sustainable delivery.

SKILLS:

-Exceptional conceptual and technical design, delivering high-quality,

innovative solutions.

-Strong communication skills: Ability to convey ideas clearly through writing,

drawing, and verbal interactions with internal teams, clients, and

consultants.

-Quick to learn and acquire new skills and knowledge.

-Strong critical thinking abilities to assess complex situations and develop

innovative solutions.

-Excellent plant and materials knowledge.

-Full, valid UK driving licence and car with the ability to travel to site when

necessary.

EXPERIENCE IN THE FOLLOWING SOFTWARE:

-Vectorworks

-Adobe Creative Suite

-SketchUp

-Google Workspace or equivalent (we use Macs)

Chartered Landscape Architect or equivalent qualification

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Involvement & Design:

-Lead landscape design projects from concept to completion, ensuring they

align with client expectations, budgets, and site constraints while

maintaining high design standards.

-Prepare reports, presentations, technical drawings, and specifications for

planning and construction.

-Produce graphic content, presentations, and detailed design packages to

effectively communicate ideas.

-Oversee project execution, liaising with clients, consultants, and contractors

to ensure smooth delivery.

-Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with the

studio's commitment to design excellence.

-Conduct site visits, attend project meetings, and professionally represent

the studio.

-Advocate innovation in landscape design, strengthening Joe Perkins'

reputation as a leader in the field.

-Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and Health & Safety legislation.

-Lead project coordination, ensuring a seamless client experience.

Project Management:

-Maintain project records and manage information in line with the studio's

system.

-Oversee the delivery of services within agreed budgets and timelines,

coordinating with designers, contractors, and the Principal.

-Review and quality-check design outputs to ensure they meet the studio's

high standards.

-Monitor resources effectively to keep projects on track and within budget,

addressing concerns with the Project Manager.

-Continuously refine internal systems and processes to optimise design

quality and efficiency.

Professional Development:

-Participate in training and career development opportunities, mentoring

and supporting colleagues' growth.

-Foster a culture of innovation, exploring design trends and engaging in

research-driven solutions.

-Collaborate and mentor team members, sharing knowledge and

encouraging a creative work environment.

-Stay proactive in seeking new design approaches, integrating technology,

and keeping up-to-date with industry best practices.

Leadership:

-Encourage and support innovation, creativity, and research within the

studio's design approach.

-Inspire a collaborative team environment, ensuring high-quality project

delivery.

-Act as a line manager for team members, providing guidance and

mentorship to help them develop professionally.

-Support the Principal in managing the Landscape Team, ensuring

efficiency and excellence in project execution.

Additional Responsibilities:

-Advocate for best practices in sustainable landscape design, ensuring

environmental responsibility in every project.

-Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and

industry professionals to enhance the studio's reputation.

-Contribute to marketing and business development efforts, assisting with

proposals and presentations.

-Stay informed on industry trends, new materials, and emerging

technologies.
