Job overview
Work in support of and under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), or ACP, across all areas of SDEC, providing personal care and assistance to patients within defined parameters specified by the Registered Nurse/ACP. Carry out a limited range of clinical care duties and supervise the work of others.
Main duties of the job
* Work as an effective team member within the multidisciplinary teams in SDEC/frailty team and support continued team development in order to achieve desired outcomes that promote the well being of patients.
* Assist the Registered nurse (RN)/ACP in the delivery of care to a designated patient group, demonstrating an ability to prioritise such care.
* Determine the comfort of patients by talking and listening to them and building up a rapport.
* Assist in providing personal hygiene of patients who are unable to do so themselves, including assistance with using the toilet. Assessing patients' health safety and wellbeing, escalating to appropriate colleagues if required.
* Assist in feeding/giving drinks to patients who are unable to do so for themselves.
* Ensure patient dignity supporting patients with tact, empathy, and persuasion.
* Report any changes in patient condition to the RN/ACP.
* Act as an effective role model for all team/unit colleagues
Working for our organisation
We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Person specification
Experience
* Previous experience in a clinical/ward/care setting
* Able to work independently caring for a group of patients
* Experience in completing clinical documentation
* Completed Care Certificate or Equivalent e.g NVQ
Knowledge
* Awareness of Trust Values and Priorities
