The Vice President, Office of the CDTO, is a pivotal leader responsible for ensuring the smooth and effective operation of the Office of the Chief Digital & Technology Officer (CDTO) at GSK. This role partners closely with the CDTO and the Digital & Technology Leadership Team to define, communicate, and execute the vision, strategy, and plans for GSK’s digital and technology organization. The VP will also drive team wide employee engagement and culture initiatives, manage the organization’s skills strategy, manage strategic technology partner programs, and ensure the organization delivers measurable business impact.
Reporting to the Chief Digital & Technology Officer, the VP will serve as a trusted advisor and integrator, enabling the CDTO and leadership team to focus on high-impact priorities while ensuring operational excellence and alignment across the technology organization.
Key Responsibilities in Detail
1. Office Operations & Leadership Enablement: Ensure the seamless operation of the Office of the CDTO, including agenda management, leadership team coordination, and executive communications. Anticipate and resolve issues, enabling the CDTO and leadership team to focus on strategic priorities. Support CDTO in preparing for strategic discussions/updates/reports to GSK’s leadership team as well as GSK’s Board of Directors.
2. Strategy & Planning: Co-ordinate the CDTO Leadership Team in defining and refining the digital and technology vision, strategy, and annual/long-range plans. Facilitate alignment and execution across the organization. Collaborate with Office of CEO on Annual Planning Objectives and other reporting activities.
3. Employee Engagement & Culture: Lead initiatives to foster a high-performing, inclusive, and innovative culture within the Digital & Technology organization. Drive employee engagement programs, communications, and recognition efforts.
4. Skills and Early Talent: Identify future strategic skills needed to support GSK's global digital transformation and develop initiatives to upskill the organization. Manage the early talent pipeline, with STEM Graduates and interns, to build future digital and technology leaders across the global team.
5. Strategic Technology Partnerships: Oversee the management of GSK’s strategic technology partner program, including relationships with major technology vendors and system integrators. Ensure partnerships deliver clear value, innovation, and measurable outcomes.
6. Metrics & Impact Reporting: Define, track, and report on key “metrics that matter” to the CDTO leadership team and the organization. Produce an annual Digital Impact Summary, highlighting the value created by the technology organization for GSK’s business, patients, and people.
7. Continuous Improvement: Identify and drive opportunities to improve processes, collaboration, culture and ways of working within the Office of the CDTO and across the technology organization.
Candidate Profile
8. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, technology, or related field required; advanced degree preferred.
9. Proven experience in driving technology initiatives for large, multifaceted organizations, ideally gained within a regulated industry
10. Demonstrated success in supporting executive leaders, driving strategic initiatives, and managing cross-functional teams.
11. Strong understanding of digital and technology trends, including AI, with the ability to comprehend and translate ideas into strategy and strategy into action.
12. Demonstrated strong leadership skills with the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with diverse audiences across various technical disciplines and job levels.
13. Consulting experience in top end consulting firms highly preferred
14. Experience managing strategic partnerships with major technology vendors and system integrators.
15. Exceptional organizational, communication, and influencing skills; able to work effectively with senior executives and diverse stakeholders
16. Track record of leading employee engagement and culture initiatives in a global setting.
17. Data orientation and analytical mindset with experience defining and tracking key performance metrics.
18. Skilled at producing executive-level communications and impact reports
19. A bias for action and ability to get things done independently without a lot of supervision is critical
