What's involved with this role: Temporary Paralegal – Debt Recovery Reference no: Gloucestershire 5246187 Pay rate: £14.41 per hour PAYE Hours per week: 37 Monday to Friday, normal working hours This opening assignment is for 7-8 months City: GLOUCESTER, Gloucestershire Flexible working A Debt Recovery Paralegal is required to join the Council’s Litigation Team. By recovering debt you will be enabling the Council to be in a better financial position to fund the services that are provided for the residents of Gloucestershire. Debt recovery experience is required for this role. Key responsibilities: Hold a varied case load of pre-litigation and post-litigation debt recovery matters. Effectively manage a high volume caseload. Deal with small, fast and multi-track claims. Review the prospects of each case and advise clients. Negotiate settlements, issue Court proceedings, and enforce judgments. Maintain a high level of client care and build excellent working relationships. Deal with litigation claims to include deceased matters under supervision. Progress your skills and knowledge in other litigious areas should you so wish. Experience & Knowledge: Debt recovery experience. Knowledge of Civil Procedure Rules and pre-action protocols from issue to settlement, costs and enforcement. Experience in small claims, although this would be advantageous, it is not essential. Excellent comprehension of volume debt recovery and litigation. Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role or context and ideally within a public sector organisation. Skills & Abilities: Ability to organise own work load and identify priorities. Ability to handle sensitive issues with tact and confidentially. Be adaptable, flexible, open to change, enthusiastic, creative, self-starter and focused. Ability to support and oversee the work of more junior staff. Ability to produce clear grammatically correct English. Good interpersonal and communication skills to be able to communicate with members, staff, other organisations and members of the public courteously and efficiently in person and by telephone.
