Sonic Healthcare UK encompasses the two main entities in the UK, The Doctors Laboratory (TDL) and Health Services Laboratories (HSL). HSL was formed to provide pathology services to the NHS Trusts and has expanded further to provide services to other NHS Trusts. With our core laboratory based at The Halo Building in London WC1H 9AX, we also have an expanding site in Manchester as well as smaller hospital-based laboratories across the country. We maintain rigorously high standards of quality, whilst also delivering efficiencies to healthcare through careful workforce planning, pioneering technology and significant investment in infrastructure and IT.

Due to the nature of work that Sonic Healthcare UK undertakes, our clients require that Employees filling certain roles, need, as part of their on-boarding to complete a DBS Check. This role falls in to the category of requiring a DBS check (standard)

About the role
We have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Biomedical Scientist to join the HSL Specialist Coagulation laboratory, co-located with the Katharine Dormandy Haemophilia and Thrombosis Comprehensive Care Centre at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead, London. The HSL specialist coagulation laboratory testing services for several hospitals in North Central London including the Royal Free hospital group which covers multiple clinical services; Renal services, Hepatology, Non-malignant Haematology including Rare disease services- Haemophilia & Thrombotic Disorders, Lysomal Disorders, and Infectious Diseases, and Transplant & Immunology, to name a few.

The person who fills this role will be an enthusiastic Senior member of the current team who is willing to share their accumulated experience, knowledge and skills. We are looking for someone with wide-ranging relevant laboratory experience who is assertive, enjoys learning, teaching and looking for a challenge. The main coagulation analysers in use are ACL TOP coagulometers plus a variety of other specialist coagulation analysers.

Participation in the weekend rota and specialist coagulation laboratory on-call rota) is required after training.
Evidence of extensive laboratory experience in coagulation is necessary. An MSc in Haematology is also mandatory (Candidates who are currently enrolled for this qualification may also be considered, dependent on experience).
