Overview
Materials Analysis is an Oxford Instruments Business Unit that manages our Electron Microscopy and Mechanical Microscopy products, Atomic Force Microscopes, Raman Microscopes and Benchtop NMR Products. We are part of the wider Oxford Instruments Group. We are looking for two UX Designers to join our Software Engineering team, one position is permanent and the second is a one-year fixed-term contract with possibility of extension. The Software Engineering team develops world-class technical software used in academia and industry. The software is technical and specialised and requires careful design influence to be easy to understand and use.
Responsibilities
* In this position the work is generally supervised and approved by others
* Collaborate with multiple teams to deliver functionality for the next scheduled release
* Maintain good design principles and branding guidelines, while tracking UI trends to stay best in class
About you / Qualifications
* A Design/UX qualification; if not, formal design/UX training
* Proven user-centred design and prototyping skills with 2+ years’ experience
* Proficient in design and interaction software such as Figma or Adobe XD
* Experience in an Agile environment with a cross-functional team
* Experience collaborating with product owners and developers
* Understanding of UX and UI design
* XAML (WPF) experience is desirable
* Ability to work across multiple projects simultaneously
* Experience with requirements gathering with business owners to discuss product designs
* Full understanding of Windows Application Design Guidelines and implementation
Location and working hours
Based in High Wycombe on the Cressex Business Park with hybrid working: 3 days in the office and 2 days at home. 37-hour working week, finish on Fridays at 12:30pm.
