QC Technician - Night Shift
Location: Preston (Close to City Centre)
Shift: Permanent Nights - Monday to Friday, 22:00-06:00
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Contract: Long-term ongoing temporary role
Training: Approx. 4 weeks on days initially
The Opportunity
We are recruiting a QC Technician to join a well-established manufacturing business based near Preston city centre. This is a long-term, ongoing temporary role with strong potential for the right candidate to remain with the business long term. You will work closely with the Operations team to support the delivery of high-quality products and services within a fast-paced FMCG environment.

Key Responsibilities
Quality Control & Inspections
7. Carry out day-to-day QC inspections on manufactured and incoming goods
8. Inspect customer returned products
9. Communicate inspection outcomes clearly and promptly to relevant departments
10. Ensure all released products meet required quality standards
11. Use internal ERP and complaint management systems accurately
Laboratory Testing
12. Conduct all QC testing in line with approved methods and procedures
13. Complete testing in a timely manner to avoid production delays
14. Maintain calibration of laboratory equipment
15. Accurately complete batch sheets and input data into ERP systems
16. Report trends, defects, or test failures
Quality & Lab Support
17. Assist with or amend QC test procedures as required
18. Review and work to QC specifications
19. Maintain a clean, organised laboratory environment
20. Troubleshoot batch issues identified during testing
21. Ensure consumables and equipment are available at all times
Collaboration & Cover
22. Provide cover for holidays, absence, and increased workload
23. Coordinate with other laboratory technicians to ensure continuous operational support
Personal Development
24. Attend relevant training courses
25. Develop skills with the opportunity to progress within the quality function
Experience & Knowledge Required
Essential
26. Experience in a Quality Control, Manufacturing, Production, or FMCG environment
27. Previous exposure to laboratory testing and QC inspections
28. Practical experience handling building-type or manufactured products
29. Understanding of QC inspections on finished goods, goods-in, and returned products
30. Ability to support QA activities and customer complaint investigations
Desirable
31. Experience working within a chemical laboratory environment

35. Working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, databases, email)
