About the Role
Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust is pleased to announce innovative posts with working hours Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 16:30. These roles are designed primarily for doctors who have successfully completed their FY2 placements and are looking to gain further experience. You will be covering general medical wards and the posts serve as an ideal stepping stone between FY2 and Specialty training, offering opportunities to develop skills in medical education, quality/service improvement and medical leadership. These positions combine service delivery and educational input within the stroke and acute medicine services, as well as other specialties within the Division of Medicine.
These are not recognised UK training posts, but successful applicants will have a named supervisor and be supported in undertaking a wide range of CV‑enhancing activities, and in scheduled educational opportunities within the Trust and specialties. The Trust reserves the right to close this vacancy early should a significant number of applications be received, so applicants are encouraged to submit as soon as possible.
Main Duties
Duties will be based primarily on our General Medicine wards on the Pinderfields site. The post holder will take supervised responsibility for patient care and consolidate the skills learned at medical school. As experience grows, responsibilities increase under clinical supervision. The post holder will contribute to the education and training of the wider workforce, demonstrating clinical effectiveness, leadership and decision‑making for the next career stage.
Successful applicants will initially be given lead roles in identified projects in one or more areas reflecting their interests and yearly objectives, and will be encouraged to create new initiatives addressing Trust challenges. Please see the attached full job description for an example weekly timetable.
