Job Summary
An exciting opportunity for a dynamic, enthusiastic, motivated, highly experienced nurse with palliative and end of life care practice and knowledge. The post holder will join our well-established expert community and ward nursing teams and medical services as a qualified Advanced Nurse Practitioner. This post provides varied senior experience in a multidisciplinary environment both within the community services and the 18-bed ward (redevelopment Sept 2025 – Mar 2026).
The role requires advanced communication and clinical assessment/prioritisation skills, with an understanding of the complex needs of those receiving expert palliative and end of life care. Competency in evidence-based practice and the ability to share current initiatives and research developments in palliative care are essential.
Main Responsibilities
* Clinical practice at an expert level with 50% direct patient care and non-medical prescribing; deliver high-quality care and enable others to maintain professional expertise with autonomy.
* Education, training and development: provide specialist training, establish links with local education providers, support students and staff development.
* Professional leadership and consultancy: lead and motivate teams, improve quality of care and standards of practice, and provide expert knowledge for policy development.
* Practice development, service evaluation and improvement: contribute to professional standards and conduct research/evaluation within the specialist field.
* Research and quality: collaborate on quality and research activities and initiatives.
* Experience at Band 7 or above with management of a complex clinical caseload; evidence of leadership development and non-medical prescribing is desirable.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential
* Registered Nurse with PIN and revalidation.
* Experience in palliative care at Band 7 or above.
* Masters degree in a relevant subject or progress towards.
* Non-Medical Prescribing qualification.
* Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projects, prioritise, and analyse complex information.
Desirable
* Postgraduate Certificate in Education or equivalent teaching qualification.
Skills and Abilities
* Advanced interpersonal and communication skills; ability to present to large groups and handle sensitive information.
* In-depth knowledge of health policy related to palliative and end-of-life care.
* Evidence of research focus and ability to identify priorities in clinical practice.
Other Requirements
* Willingness to work flexibly.
* Driver with full UK license and a roadworthy vehicle.
