Role Overview:

We are looking to appoint a Lecturer in Games. The ideal candidate should have experience of a creative approach to designing and delivering HE curriculum at foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate levels in both subject-specific and interdisciplinary contexts. We are seeking someone with a core focus on game level design and production pipelines, who can support students in developing immersive, playable experiences while understanding iterative development and collaborative workflows.

The applicant should have strong skills in game level design, with experience of using game engines (e.g. Unreal or Unity) to prototype and iterate on gameplay spaces. A working understanding of production pipelines, from concept to implementation, is essential. We are also interested in candidates with additional strengths in 1 to 2 of the following areas:

* Concept art and visual storytelling
* Technical animation (e.g. rigging, scripting, state machines)
* Games business, funding, and production models
* Critical games theory or cultural game studies
* 3D animation, Maya and 3d modelling/texturing

The applicant should also have an in-depth understanding of current industry trends within this field and be able to conduct research and deliver programmes that are grounded in the present but offer space to explore the future - leading students to investigate what it means to be a creative media practitioner at the convergence of storytelling, technology, and innovation.

To arrange an informal discussion, please email: Professor Carlo Harvey

To Apply:

* Please submit a CV and covering letter outlining, in particular, how your profile, experience and ambition make you the ideal candidate for the role.
* For full details of the role and responsibilities, refer to the job description and person specification provided.
