The Role

At SSEN Transmission, we’re transforming the UK’s energy future by delivering the critical electricity infrastructure needed to connect vast new sources of renewable power across the north of Scotland. These are projects that will power millions of homes, accelerate Net Zero, and help deliver the UK’s Clean Power 2030 vision.

With a rapidly expanding programme and a major pipeline of nationally significant projects, we’re recruiting an experienced P6 Planning Engineer to join our growing team. You’ll have the opportunity to work on complex, high‑value infrastructure that truly shapes the UK’s energy landscape. This role offers hybrid working, strong career development, and the chance to meaningfully influence delivery performance across our portfolio.

Using Primavera P6, you’ll help keep our projects on track – ensuring they’re delivered safely, efficiently, and on time. Working closely with our Project Services Manager, Project Managers, Capital Development and Delivery Project Teams, and wider stakeholders, you’ll develop robust, data-driven schedules that enable smart decisions and drive performance across the business.

You Will

* Develop and maintain detailed, logic‑driven project schedules across the full lifecycle — from early-stage design through to construction, commissioning and energisation.
* Partner closely with multidisciplinary teams including engineering, commercial, site delivery and external contractors to create realistic, logic driven and aligned programmes.
* Carry out delay analysis and assess change impacts, ensuring robust compliance with NEC3 planning and reporting requirements.
* Produce clear, insightful reports that highlight progress, risks, opportunities and performance trends for key stakeholders and senior leaders.
* Review, interrogate and challenge contractor schedules to ensure quality, logic integrity and contractual alignment on large, complex infrastructure projects.

You have

* Demonstrable experience as a Planning Engineer using Primavera P6 on major construction or infrastructure projects.
* Strong practical understanding of NEC3 planning requirements, including assessing delay impacts, change events, and contractor claims.
* The ability to use Primavera P6 to build and manage complex, logic-linked construction programmes.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, enabling strong relationships with internal teams and external delivery partners.
* A proactive, solution‑focused approach, solid Microsoft 365 skills, and a valid driving licence for travel to SSE offices and project sites (with occasional overnight stays).
