GSL Education are looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs in St Leonards from September. The school is known for its nurturing environment, supportive staff, and well-established routines.
About the Role:
This is a classroom-based role, supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language delays, or social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. You’ll work closely with one or two pupils, helping them stay engaged, regulate emotions, and take part in learning activities that are adapted to their needs.
Responsibilities:
• Provide 1:1 or small-group support to pupils with SEND
• Use visual schedules and consistent routines to reduce anxiety
• Support communication, behaviour, and social development
• Assist with personal care when required (training provided)
• Work with teachers and other professionals to deliver tailored support
Requirements:
• Experience working with children with SEND is ideal
• Calm, consistent and patient approach
• Strong communication skills and ability to follow behaviour plans
• Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
