Join us at Ferrybridge lock area to be part of a growing number of like-minded people who enjoy being outdoors and help us maintain this historic waterway as a conservation volunteer.
The role involves general light maintenance of the lock area, painting lock hardware and fencing, grass cutting, weeding, and keeping the area litter-free for all to enjoy. Volunteers will work on the Island towards Kings Mill.
This is an unsupervised opportunity once volunteers are confident in their role, with full support from a CRT team leader. The opportunity can be attended at your convenience once confident, initially on a weekday.
Why we want you
Our Conservation volunteers help maintain our network, carrying out heritage and nature conservation activities, as well as tasks like painting or litter picking to improve the local environment.
They help address challenges on the waterways, ensuring the canal is accessible and well maintained. Your support will help us keep the canals vibrant and accessible for everyone.
Some projects are conducted on a 'project basis' to achieve specific goals, such as rebuilding stone walls or planting, allowing volunteers to contribute in different ways.
