With over 100 employees in the UK and a reputation for innovation and quality, our client is seeking a talented Service Engineer to join their growing team. The Role As a Service Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the service, repair, breakdown support, and commissioning of advanced product inspection machinery — including industrial metal detection systems, checkweighers, and X-ray equipment — at food production sites nationwide. This is a customer-facing role, requiring excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships while representing a trusted brand. Key Responsibilities Service, repair, and commission inspection machinery at customer sites across the UK Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults quickly and effectively Work confidently with gearboxes, motors, belts, chains, pulleys, and associated components Read and interpret electrical diagrams and wiring schematics Provide professional support and training to customers as required Complete detailed service reports and maintain accurate records Requirements Strong mechanical engineering background with solid electrical understanding Confident working with gearboxes, motors, and general mechanical assemblies Ability to read and understand electrical diagrams and perform wiring tasks Excellent customer-facing skills and a proactive, problem-solving mindset Willingness to travel across the UK and occasional optional trips across Europe Full UK driving licence What’s on Offer? £35,000 base salary Generous overtime (OTE circa £10k extra per year) Overtime rates: 1.5x (Mon–Fri), 2x (Sundays/Bank Holidays), paid door to door £40/night allowance when staying away (plus paid hotel and meals) Company vehicle, Surface Pro, mobile phone No on-call requirement — excellent work-life balance Full training and ongoing development Option to travel internationally if desired (not mandatory) If you’re a skilled, hands-on engineer who enjoys variety, travel, and working directly with customers, we’d love to hear from you!
