Role: SEMH Teacher

Contract: Full-time (initially fixed term, with the potential to become permanent)
Salary: £140 - £180 per day

A specialist school in Taunton is seeking a dedicated and resilient Teacher to join their team from June 2025, with the opportunity to move into a permanent position if you prove to be an invaluable member of the team.
This state-funded special school supports students from Years 5 - 11, all of whom have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) for Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, as well as Social Communication and Language (SCL) difficulties. The school prides itself on creating an inclusive and structured learning environment where students are empowered to develop emotional resilience, self-regulation and academic growth.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will deliver a varied curriculum tailored to meet the needs of students with SEMH and SCL needs. This includes core subjects such as literacy, numeracy, PSHE and PE, along with broader learning areas including Art, Science, Careers and Life Skills Teaching will take place across both classroom-based settings and outdoor environments, such as forest school and enrichment sessions. You will be supported by a multidisciplinary team including therapists, teaching assistants and pastoral staff.
What We’re Looking For:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or equivalent) - primary or secondary
* Experience working with students with SEMH or complex behavioural needs is highly desirable
* A flexible, empathetic and resilient teaching style
* Strong classroom management skills and the ability to differentiate learning effectively
* A commitment to inclusive education and personalised learning
* An enhanced child workforce DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
