Shop Manager – Pickering
Location: Pickering, YO18 7AE
Employment Type: Full‑time (35 hours/week), Permanent
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage a team of staff and volunteers to deliver an excellent shop experience.
* Ensure daily operations run smoothly, including inventory management, merchandising and cash handling.
* Drive sales and maximise profits while maintaining high customer service standards.
* Plan and oversee training, coaching and development of team members.
* Apply the charity’s policies and procedures and maintain compliance with health & safety regulations.
* Handle/lift bags of stock up to 10kg as required.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience in a performance‑driven retail/customer‑centric environment.
* Previous people‑management experience.
* Ability to lift and carry bags of stock up to 10kg.
* Leadership skills that build, retain and develop a team.
* Strong drive to achieve results through others.
* Excellent delegation, coaching and listening abilities.
* Time‑management skills to handle conflicting priorities.
* Motivation for self and team.
* Adaptability and support for others through change.
* Communication skills to engage a diverse workforce and customer base.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective retail processes and merchandising.
* IT literacy and basic numeracy.
