HGV Technician / Mechanic
Location:Black Bourton, OxfordshireHours:Full Time, Monday to Friday, 7:00 am 5:00 pm (Saturday overtime optional)Salary:£45,000 - £48,000 per annum
About the Company
An established plant hire company with over 50 years of industry experience, providing high-quality plant and digger hire across the UK, is seeking an experienced HGV Technician / Mechanic to maintain and repair their HGV fleet.
We take pride in delivering reliable, well-maintained equipment and exceptional service to our customers, prioritising safety and operational excellence. This role is key to maintaining fleet reliability and supporting operational efficiency across the business.
Key Responsibilities
* Carrying out servicing, maintenance, and repairs (mechanical and electrical)
* Diagnosing faults and completing effective repairs
* Conducting 6-weekly inspections
* Brake testing and diagnostic testing (experience essential)
* MOT preparation
* Ensuring vehicles are safe, compliant, and roadworthy
* Maintaining accurate service records and completing all relevant PMI paperwork
About You
Essential
* Proven experience as an HGV Technician / Mechanic
* Strong mechanical knowledge, including servicing, maintenance, and fault finding on HGVs
* Experience with diagnostic testing and brake testing is essential (support available, but prior experience required)
* Own tools required (standard personal tools expected; larger/specialist equipment provided)
* Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Desirable
* Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)
* Class 2 (Category C) driving licence
Working Hours
* Monday to Friday, 7:00 am 5:00 pm
* Saturday work is optional and paid as overtime
