Sheffield, South Yorkshire, United Kingdom
Salary: £28,000 - £32,000
This is a hugely exciting entry‑level opportunity to join UniHomes as the fourth member of the newly formed Data & Analytics team. As a Junior Energy Analyst you’ll become an expert on the Energy (Gas & Electric) usage of our customer base. You’ll work with our Energy Analyst and the Finance team to review supplier invoices each month and ensure we have a strong understanding of any discrepancies from our forecasts. You’ll assist with wider projects and ad hoc reporting for Energy data, applying skills in Python, Excel, SQL, and Tableau. It’s a very supportive, welcoming environment with opportunities to learn and develop in your career.
Responsibilities
* Manage monthly reporting on supplier invoices: summarize the invoice and compare to forecasts, and proactively provide reporting packs to Finance to help understand variances from the forecast.
* Complete additional in‑depth analysis as needed to provide further understanding.
* Contribute to and lead regular meetings with Ops and other teams to discuss monthly KPIs related to invoicing and related actions for their teams.
* Proactively and continuously improve these processes using Python, SQL, Excel, and Tableau to enable the Finance team to query and pay invoices each month most effectively.
Contribute to wider projects and ad hoc reporting for Energy data. This will vary but examples include:
* Building a Tableau dashboard to show how energy usage has varied in the last year from forecast and how this correlates with the weather.
* Calculating individual property usage and advising different teams including Legal, Operations and Sales to assist with specific customer or supplier queries.
* Updating SQL files within our data pipelines (DBT) to reflect the invoicing status and adding additional details to the final table outputs.
Essential skills and experience
* Strong communication skills. Able to ask effective questions to understand the wider context and provide concise, insightful recommendations.
* Aptitude for analysing large, highly complex data sets with high attention to detail to analyse row‑level details, identify trends and segment data for greater clarity.
* Experience proactively building out automations and other processes to increase efficiency and improve use of data.
* High numeracy; the role involves lots of maths.
* Strong capability with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, multi‑step formulas including IF, XLOOKUP, AVERAGEIFS) and the ability to review data quickly and visualise it.
* Experience with Python, including collating data, cleansing data, analysing and identifying trends, writing custom functions, and visualising data.
Desirable
* Experience with SQL: building queries across multiple tables using CTEs, UNIONs, LEFT JOINS, CASE statements, etc.
* Experience with BI tools (Tableau).
* Experience working with Finance teams and invoice management.
* Experience working with Energy data.
* Experience working with Salesforce.
* Experience working with DBT.
