The inpatient Therapy service at UHCW NHS Trust is an expanding, forward‑thinking and highly regarded service and this post offers excellent personal and professional development opportunities within an established, supportive team. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated professional with excellent leadership, people management and operational delivery skills to join us. Applications are welcome from Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists able to demonstrate current and extensive acute hospital inpatient clinical experience within the Stroke specialty.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy service offered by the Stroke Therapy team. The role involves working closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure compliance with national pathway standards and SSNAP data compliance, leading on service and patient experience development work within the acute setting, and collaborating with colleagues across the wider pathway to embed effective and coordinated rehabilitation for patients and support the education and development of staff.
The role will provide opportunities for the successful candidate’s personal and professional development, with needs identified through supervision, appraisals and internal/external learning opportunities.
Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
Responsibilities
* Lead on optimising the clinical effectiveness of acute rehabilitation for stroke patients at UHCW NHS Trust.
* Collaborate with the Stroke centralisation pathway senior leadership, including the UH Stroke Coordinator, to develop and implement the Stroke service strategy for UHCW NHS Trust and wider pathway.
* Provide clinically as a highly specialist therapist.
* Support the organisation and delivery of educational programmes to promote clinical skills development of the workforce within UHCW and the wider pathway (e.g., rehabilitation bedded units and community teams).
* Advise, propose and implement policy and therapy service changes for stroke patients which impact on UHCW NHS Trust.
* Work in partnership across the Stroke centralisation pathway and other national stroke services to ensure timely patient flow and service evolution.
* Represent UHCW Therapies on relevant national committees and working parties to improve stroke patient care and service delivery.
* Lead in the development, trialling and introduction of patient experience and outcome measures.
* Act as a source of highly specialist skills, advice and leadership in relation to acute stroke rehabilitation.
* Be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of own work, ensuring a high standard of clinical care for patients under own management and supporting others.
The role base is at University Hospital Coventry site with an expectation that the successful candidate will be able to commute to linked pathway services as required for service development working.
