Radiography assistants and imaging support workers are crucial cogs in the diagnosis and treatment of NHS patients.
As a radiography assistant or imaging support worker, youll work closely with Diagnostic Radiographers who use imaging to work out which disease or condition is causing a patient’s illness.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
* processing examinations
* ordering stocks of consumable items
* helping with procedures such as biopsies
* making sure the working environment is clean and hygienic
* preparing patients for treatment, including transferring patients
* checking the equipment and report faults
* inputting data
* Chaperoning intimate examinations
Who will I work with?
Radiography assistants and imaging support workers work closely with diagnostic radiographers, medical physicists, engineers, doctors, nurses and other health professionals.
Where will I work?
Most radiography assistants and imaging support workers work in NHS hospitals. They provide a service for most departments within the hospital including accident and emergency, outpatients, operating theatres and wards.
Duties include providing appropriate patient preparation for a range of ultrasound examinations, assisting with sterile procedures including biopsies, and chaperoning intimate examinations. Ensuring optimum throughput of workloads in the department together with assisting in the daily provision of patient care.
The base location of this role is Conbquest Hospital, Hastings, however you may also be required to cover Bexhill Community Diagnostic Centre and Eastbourne District General hospital.
Applicants should ideally possess minimum NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care OR an acceptable, alternative Level 2 Qualification and have minimum of 2 years experience (current) in a Health or Social Care Environment.
