Job Overview
We are currently seeking a dynamic, adaptable, and patient‑focused Outpatient Support Services Administrator to join our Colchester-based Contact Centre. The role is dual: work within the Outpatient Support Services Contact Centre and provide cross‑cover at Outpatients Reception Areas across sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Contact patients by telephone to arrange appointments using work queues to assist and manage priority and date order.
- Record patient cancellations, changes and rebookings accurately on all relevant Trust systems.
- Review cancelled, suspended or deferred patients with Team Leaders to ensure appropriate action is taken.
- Maintain relationships with Team Leaders, Medical Secretaries, clinical and non‑clinical staff, patients, carers and the general public.
- Apply knowledge of rules and protocols to fully utilise clinical capacity.
Qualifications
Essential:
- GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) in English/Maths and good keyboard skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to use initiative, judgment and organise own work and work within a team.
- Clerical skills.
- Should be able to work in a crowded and stressful environment.
Desirable:
- Previous knowledge of hospital work and systems.
- Knowledge of computer data systems.
- Knowledge of confidentiality.
