Essex County Council (ECC) is supporting Harlow Council in recruiting a Locum Property Lawyer on a full-time, temporary basis.
Job Purpose:
As a Locum Property Lawyer for Harlow Council, you will provide legal advice and assistance to the Council, its Chief and Senior Officers, Client Officers, Members, Statutory Directors, and similar.
Accountabilities:
* Stay informed of developments in relevant areas of law and advise the Council, Chief Officer, Senior Management, Client Departments, Officers, Statutory Directors, and Members as appropriate.
* Promote and assist in the development and delivery of Legal Services.
* Undertake non-contentious property transactions and related legal matters.
* Perform other duties as allocated by the Assistant Director Legal and Democratic Services.
Role Duties:
* Complete commercial and residential property transactions.
* Assess instructions related to statutory residential property matters, including Council charges.
* Keep updated on legal developments and advise relevant parties accordingly.
* Support policy implementation and ensure compliance with legislation, guidance, and policies.
* Review and interpret new legislation, case law, and legal developments, providing guidance to departments and Members.
* Maintain accurate time records using the designated system.
* Develop solutions to legal challenges, minimizing risks where possible.
* Adhere to the scheme of delegation as determined by the Council.
Experience You Will Bring:
Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, Legal Executive, or equivalent.
Experience with residential property agreements, including drafting and granting tenancies and licenses.
