Role overview
We are currently recruiting for a Technical Director to lead our North East Design Team. The role involves supporting our expanding Water Utilities workload, providing designs for water and wastewater, infrastructure, and non-infrastructure projects, from feasibility to detailed design for construction and commissioning.
The position primarily supports our long-term framework in the Water Sector, with opportunities across various UK projects.
This is a permanent, hybrid role based around our Durham office and our client's office in Pity Me, with flexible working arrangements considered.
Key responsibilities include: Financial management of the North East water design team.
Leading design input into tenders according to company governance.
Maintaining relationships with key client contacts and identifying future opportunities.
Providing national technical leadership within the Water Design business.
Developing design services to enhance technical excellence.
Conducting audits of technical delivery.
Leading initiatives on innovation, carbon reduction, etc.
Creating and updating technical datasheets, case studies, and briefing notes.
Managing senior staff, conducting PDRs, and fostering team culture and performance.
Monitoring project budgets and staff utilization.
Securing support from sub-consultants and suppliers.
Ensuring the team has the necessary skills, resources, and systems.
Challenging projects to ensure quality and compliance.
Ensuring health, safety, and environmental legislation compliance.
Experience and qualifications:
Strong technical background in water and wastewater, infrastructure, and non-infrastructure projects.
Engineering degree in Mechanical, Process, Electrical, or Civil Engineering preferred.
Proficiency with MS Office and basic knowledge of AutoCAD.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Proven leadership and teamwork abilities.
Client-focused approach.
Self-motivated with a drive for continuous improvement.
Strong health & safety awareness.
Management: This role manages the North East Water Design Team.
