Senior Associate – Personal Independence
The Personal Independence Team supports EY Partners and client‑facing professionals by ensuring compliance with independence policies and external regulations. The team is expanding, creating a new role based in Belfast to enhance support for the UK Independence function. Senior Associates report to the Personal Independence Manager in Belfast and to senior management in London.
Role Details
* Location: Belfast (London travel may be required).
* Type: Permanent, Full‑time.
* Reports to: Personal Independence Manager in Belfast and senior management in London.
Your Key Responsibilities
* Provide advice and guidance to EY’s internal Partners and employees on independence issues related to personal financial investments and relationships.
* Analyze individuals’ financial holdings and relationships to assess independence under EY internal policy and external regulations.
* Support Managers and Senior Managers in operating key processes and evaluating the independence impact of financial relationships with EY audit clients.
* Assist in the firm’s annual and quarterly Independence Confirmation process.
* Provide support for internal and external regulatory reviews and inspections.
* Collaborate with the London‑based Personal Independence team to foster effective teamwork.
* Assist in training new joiners on Personal Independence systems and processes.
* Act as a role model for Associates in the team.
Qualifications
* Experience in a risk management environment.
* Excellent communication skills and confidence to deliver messages to EY employees and Partners at all levels.
* Ability to work independently with strong organizational skills.
* Strong analytical and interpretation skills with attention to detail.
* Adaptable, flexible, and a good team player.
* Capability to meet deadlines and perform under pressure.
* Strategic thinking and ability to handle complex concepts.
* Desire to provide exceptional support to Partners and staff, using empathy when required.
Preferred Qualifications
* Understanding of investment products such as ISAs, pensions, and investment accounts.
