We welcome applications from all sections of society.</p><h3>Job Title</h3><p>Chief Nurse Research & Development – Band 8C, 14.4 hours per week (0.4 WTE) – Job Share, 2‑Year Fixed‑Term Contract (West Port / Working from Home)</p><h3>Overview</h3><p>This role shares professional leadership of the clinical research nursing and midwifery workforce, strategic leadership for research capacity building for nursing and midwifery professions, and operational management of three WTE clinical research nurse managers. The postholder will support the implementation and evaluation of the NHS Lothian Research Delivery Community Strategic Plan 2026‑2029 and the Nursing, Midwifery, AHP and Pharmacy (NMAHPP) Research Strategic Plan 2026‑2030, collaborate with seven academic partners across Scotland and may undertake own research and supervise post‑graduate research students.</p><h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Professional leadership of the clinical research nursing and midwifery workforce</li><li>Strategic leadership for research capacity building for nursing and midwifery professions</li><li>Operational management of 3 WTE clinical research nurse managers</li><li>Support implementation and evaluation of the NHS Lothian Research Delivery Community Strategic Plan 2026‑2029 and NMAHPP Research Strategic Plan 2026‑2030</li><li>Collaborate with seven academic partners across Scotland</li><li>Possibly undertake own research and supervise post‑graduate research students</li><li>Line manage staff at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and Western General Hospital</li></ul><h3>Qualifications & Experience</h3><p>• Experienced, innovative and proactive individual with leadership experience in clinical research nursing or midwifery.</p><p>• Experience in strategic leadership and capacity building within nursing or midwifery professions.</p><p>• Ability to manage and develop staff and supervise post‑graduate research students.</p><p>• Ability to work in a job share arrangement and deliver results within a 0.4 WTE commitment.</p><h3>Additional Requirements</h3><p>The postholder must hold or apply for membership/record with the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme for the relevant regulatory group (child and/or adult). If not a current PVG member, an application will be made to Disclosure Scotland before appointment.</p><p>Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, the role may require a different level of criminal records check if assessed as a regulated role.</p><h3>Work Location & Schedule</h3><p>No fixed base – working from home is an option, with access to a bookable desk at Waverley Court.
