This role is suitable for individuals who enjoy data input, coding and filtering correspondence to the most appropriate Clinician or Administrator to help maximise patient care. The post holder will need to have excellent attention to detail, excellent IT skills, be a good time manager and be able to prioritise workload effectively whilst ensuring the document management process is accurate and completed to a high standard in line with practice policy and procedures. The post holder will be part of the Administration team and required to work resourcefully and will require innovation, flexibility, empathy and commitment.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
1. Transfer relevant data from clinical correspondence (either paper or electronic) to patient records, read code each problem appropriately.
2. Scan and attach patient related documents to clinical record and workflow equitably where appropriate.
3. Identify and refer any clinical actions to the most appropriate clinician.
4. Manage and distribute emails from the Clinical Email Inbox.
5. Manage chronic disease registers and ensure all relevant patients receive annual invite either by text or letter.
6. Manage Day book, and action or delegate tasks as appropriate.
7. Provide reception cover as and when required.
8. Attend and participate in practice and team meetings.
9. Attend any training relevant to the role, along with mandatory training both internally and externally.
10. Manage and maintain own personal development as agreed at your annual review.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Essential:
11. A proven sound knowledge and understanding of medical terminology
12. Excellent communicator both written and verbal
13. Strong IT skills
14. Needs to maintain confidentiality and data security
15. Must be adaptable and comfortable dealing with changing priorities and be flexible in approach to practice needs on a day to day basis
16. Proven ability to work independently and concentrate in a silent environment for sizeable periods of time with full attention to detail
17. Act on own initiative in prioritising and managing workload, in respect of clinical, managerial, and administrative areas, as necessary
18. Established confidence is ones own decision making skills
19. Excellent team worker with respect for both colleagues and patients alike
Desirable:
20. At least 5 years experience working in a clinical environment
21. Experience in clinical coding on any current NHS IT system
22. A working knowledge of both Vision and Docman or clinical software
23. Up to date GDPR legislation knowledge and relevant patient impact
