The Graduate Assistant (English) at Radley College will play a central role in fostering a culture of reading among students while gaining practical teaching experience.
Responsibilities
* Act as a reading champion by curating young adult libraries in each classroom.
* Run Senior and Junior book groups and produce reading newsletters.
* Secure high‑quality guest speakers who champion literature and keep the College at the forefront of new writing.
* Provide bespoke support, including tailored reading recommendations for students applying to Oxbridge.
* Support the Head of English in developing the College's reading culture as an institutional priority.
* Attend teacher training and receive lesson observation to build teaching skills.
* Participate in extracurricular life: coaching games, playing in the orchestra, or involvement in college societies.
Qualifications
* Recent graduate in English or a related subject.
* Passionate about literature with a strong desire to foster a genuine love of reading among young people.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage students, staff, and guests.
* Ability to curate and organise reading resources across a variety of genres and forms.
* Willingness to work collaboratively within a supportive pastoral and educational team.
