Head Receptionist (Reception Team Leader / Manager)
Location: GP Surgery – Leamington Spa Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday Working Window: Between 7:45am and 6:00pm
Salary: £28,000 – £29,500 per year
Additional Pay: Performance Bonus
About the Role
We are a forward-thinking, patient-focused GP Surgery in Leamington Spa seeking a confident and compassionate Head Receptionist / Reception Team Leader to join our close-knit team.
As the first point of contact for our patients, you’ll lead by example—offering a welcoming, calm, and organised presence. You’ll guide patients to the most appropriate clinicians, supervise a small team of five, and oversee the day-to-day operation of our busy front desk.
This varied role includes managing calls, booking appointments, and handling a steady stream of administrative duties. With strong communication, computer literacy, and a professional phone manner, you’ll inspire your team to deliver an exceptional patient experience—even when the day feels hectic.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and mentor the reception team across a 5-day schedule
Manage high volumes of calls and face-to-face patient interaction
Oversee appointment bookings and data entry with precision
Maintain smooth communication between reception and clinical teams
Handle administrative duties, paperwork, and incoming documentation
Coordinate rotas and provide basic HR support
Uphold a calm, positive environment under pressureExperience & Skills Required
Minimum 1 year of NHS experience (essential)
Proven leadership or team management experience
Strong organisational and multitasking skills
Excellent phone and interpersonal etiquette
