We are recruiting a Teaching Assistant for an outstanding SEND school in Huyton, we looking for a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join our team. This isn't just a job; it’s an opportunity to become the "anchor" for a Year 10 student who needs a consistent, patient, and understanding mentor to navigate his school day.
The right Teaching Assistant will be working closely with a Year 10 boy who has a diagnosis of Global Developmental Delay (GDD), Autism (ASD), and a Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) profile.
*
Hours: 08:45 – 15:45 (Monday to Friday)
*
Duration: Long-term placement
*
Location: Huyton (Outstanding rated SEND setting)
This role requires a unique blend of soft skills and mental fortitude. We aren't just looking for a "teaching assistant"—we’re looking for a relationship-builder.
*
PDA: You know that direct demands often don't work. You are a master of collaboration, choice-giving, and "incidental" learning.
*
Relationship-Focused: You prioritize connection over curriculum. You understand that he won't learn from you until he trusts you.
*
Patient & Steady: You celebrate the small wins and can maintain a positive energy even on the tough days.
Working in an Outstanding SEND environment means you aren't doing this alone. You will be supported by a multidisciplinary team, given access to specialized training, and work in a facility designed specifically to meet the sensory and emotional needs of its pupils.
"The right candidate doesn't need a degree in psychology—they need a big heart, a cool head, and the ability to show up every day with a fresh start."
If you have experience with ASD/PDA and you’re ready to commit to a long-term role where you can see the real-world impact of your work, we want to hear from you.
