Electrical Engineer – Ground Systems (Telford, Shropshire)
We’re looking for an Electrical Engineer to work on groundbreaking projects, designing and integrating cutting‑edge systems and equipment for the defence industry. If you’re passionate about electrical engineering and want to make a real impact, this is the role for you.
Responsibilities
* Produce detailed drawings, design specifications, technical plans, and reports that meet contractual requirements and promote cost‑effective design.
* Assist in validating systems and equipment, including creating test schedules, integration plans, and technical reports.
* Collaborate with suppliers to ensure compliance with technical requirements and quality standards.
* Stay updated on technical advancements and apply this knowledge to ongoing projects.
* Ensure designs prioritise safety, manufacturability, cost targets, EMC, reliability and maintainability.
* Perform self‑verification of tasks and cross‑check peers’ work to ensure quality and completeness.
Qualifications
* Must be a UK national due to the “British only” role and security clearance requirements.
* Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, or relevant experience.
* Proficiency in electrical engineering using 3D CAD software such as Creo or NX.
* Knowledge of drawing standards such as BS 8888 and geometric tolerances.
* Ability to design components and systems for new products and ongoing development.
* Strong problem‑solving skills and competence in Microsoft products (Excel, Word, Project).
* Desirable: understanding of the basic requirements specified in Defence Standard 61.5 Part 6 (Nominal 12 V and 24 V DC Electrical Systems in Military Platforms) and Defence Standard 59.411 (Electromagnetic Compatibility).
* Desirable: experience with the E3 electrical design package.
