We’re recruiting a Pricing Data Science Manager (known internally as a Pricing Manager – Protect (South)) within our Motor Risk Pricing team based in our Reigate / Edinburgh / Glasgow office.
This team uses data science techniques to identify and assess new data sources; engineers new internal features for usage in live pricing; liaises with enrichment providers; monitors performance of existing features/products; and regularly proposes price changes based on emerging experience. We pride ourselves on our agile, varied and collaborative environment.
The Role
* Analysing new data sources, internal and external, for use within Pricing.
* Feature engineering and modelling new rating features using a range of data science techniques.
* Supporting the continual improvement in Motor risk claim cost pricing models and supporting data feeds.
* Bringing price proposals to the appropriate forums for discussion and approval, ensuring the customer is considered.
* Periodic review of value and ongoing maintenance of existing data sources and enrichment.
* Developing the suite of model monitoring reports to identify trends at the earliest opportunity.
* Working closely with your risk and retail pricing counterparts to deliver good end-to-end outcomes.
* Supplier / stakeholder management for existing and proposed data sources.
* Line management for two analysts.
What you’ll bring (min criteria)
* Strong theoretical and practical understanding of Personal Lines pricing
* Deep knowledge and experience of modelling techniques – principally GLM and GBM
* Prior experience of using insurance pricing software, e.g. Radar, Emblem
* Knowledge of programming languages e.g., SAS, R, and Python
* Knowledge and enthusiasm for data science
* Great attention to detail and an analytical mentality
