Occupational Health Staff Psychological Therapist

Avon Partnership Occupational Health Service (APOHS) is seeking an experienced and motivated Counsellor, Psychotherapist, CBT Therapist or Practitioner Psychologist to join our staff counselling and therapy team.
APOHS is hosted by University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) and provides high‑quality occupational health counselling services to staff employed by UHBW and partner organisations, including North Bristol NHS Trust and Sirona Care and Health.
The successful applicant will provide short‑term, evidence‑based psychological interventions to health and social care staff.
Responsibilities
- To manage a caseload of clients and provide counselling or other psychotherapy including trauma‑specific interventions where appropriate (such as EMDR or CBT for trauma) along with general counselling for personal and work issues.
- To provide effective leadership, mentoring and supervision of trainee staff in post.
- To provide effective leadership, training and mentoring to other staff who are part of the APOHS, through delivery of psycho‑educational programmes or provision of ad‑hoc, specialist group courses and workshops as appropriate, in person and/or online.
- To be responsible for own time management, ensuring appropriate allocation of time for client sessions, supervision, necessary research and record keeping.
- To manage and maintain adequate records of clinical work and provide appropriate statistical returns as required.
Qualifications
- Recognised professional qualification to diploma level.
- To be a member of a recognised professional body, for example, BACP, BABCP, HCPC and be accredited or working towards Accredited Practitioner Registration with that body.
- Additional post‑qualification training or accreditation in a recognised therapeutic modality (e.g. EMDR, CBT).
- Training in brief therapy.
- Consideration of the trusts' values showing aptitudes relating to empathy, team working, compassion, innovation.
Knowledge and Experience
- Considerable experience of working psychotherapeutically with a range of clients and presentations.
- Experience of working with staff or in Occupational health, with these systems and the sorts of presentations experienced.
Skills and Abilities
- Important skills and abilities relevant to the role, able to demonstrate good communication skills, rapport building, team working and flexibility.
- Flexibility with mode of delivery (face to face or remote) and work environment (able to travel to different locations).
