We currently have multiple Locum Consultant positions available in Medicine at various hospitals in and around London. Rates range from £72.28 (Pan London social rate) to £105 PAYE per hour. Working hours are typically Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:00, with potential on-call duties.
Qualifications & Training
* MRCP / FRCP / MBBS (or equivalent)
* Fully registered with the GMC
* Preferably a holder of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Acute, General, or Geriatric Medicine
Experience
* Experience leading Acute, General, or Geriatric admitting medical teams
* Experience working with allied health professions
* Ability to lead and make consultant-level decisions in Orthogeriatrics/Peri-operative Medicine/Ambulatory Medicine
Clinical Knowledge and Skills
* Ability to take full and independent responsibility for patient care
* Ability to practice independently in Acute, General, or Geriatric Medicine
* Provide expert clinical opinions on related medical problems
* Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Excellent clinical skills
Geriatric Medicine Key Responsibilities:
* Ward-based work: Care for elderly patients, including reviews and ward rounds
* Acute frailty assessment: Work in frailty units or liaise with other specialties
* Inpatient and outpatient care: Participate in clinics, including rapid access clinics
* Liaison with other specialties: Provide specialist opinions, especially in frailty and Orthogeriatrics
* On-call responsibilities: Share duties like stroke on-call, weekend, or overnight cover (not required for all positions)
Acute Medicine Key Locums:
* Acute Medical Unit (AMU): Consultant review and management of inpatients
* Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC)/Ambulatory Care: Lead assessment and management, including late shifts
* Acute Take: Manage new admissions from emergency department
* On-call: Night, weekend, or flexible duties depending on the hospital setup
* Ward Rounds: Attend rounds, review, and manage patients
* Consultations: Outpatient assessments
* Procedures: Perform relevant procedures
* Emergency Care: Respond to medical emergencies
* On-Call Duties: Provide outside-hours care, on-site or from home (not required for all roles)
